I have a jar of coins that i have been collecting for about the last 10 years. Would it be beneficial to examine the coins for rarity for someone that does not know much about coins, or just to cash them in. What are my chances of finding something of value. I have noticed many older coins from the 60’s.

YES, it would be worth examining them !! If nothing else, check the quarters… anything prior to 1965 will be SILVER instead of alloy and is worth more that 25 cents.

A few years ago I dumped out my 5 gallon water jar of change and found 42 SILVER quarters along with a number of buffalo nickels

Chances aren’t that great, and rare coins are few and far between…but you never know. Look through them as your time allows..then cash them in.

you can easy find the values of your coins.Just enter eBay and in category "Coins" type your coin – denomination + year and you will find out if it is rare or not.

This years’ Redbook determines market value in general.
Definitely do not just cash them in.
